How to Prepare Your Home for a Starlink Installation
A practical checklist covering equipment, access, decision-makers, router placement, pets, parking, and weather.
Confirm your equipment
Have the Starlink kit, power supply, router, cable, and any customer-supplied mounting hardware available. If possible, send the kit model and photos before the appointment so compatibility questions can be addressed early.
Make the work areas accessible
Clear reasonable access to the exterior mounting area, likely cable path, wall-entry area, router room, electrical outlet, attic, crawlspace, or utility area that may be involved. Move fragile objects away from the work zone.
Plan for an authorized adult
Someone who can approve the dish location, cable path, entry point, and router placement should be present. Changing the plan after permanent mounting begins can add time and may not be practical.
Think about Wi-Fi use
Consider where internet coverage matters most: offices, bedrooms, televisions, security equipment, detached spaces, or upper floors. This information helps guide router placement and mesh recommendations.

Keep pets away from exterior gates and active work areas. Make space for a work vehicle and ladders where practical. Mention locked gates, restricted roads, steep drives, or unusual parking conditions beforehand.
