Starlink Residential, Roam, and Business Service Explained

Compare the intended use of residential, travel, and business-oriented Starlink service without assuming that one plan fits every property.

Choose service around use, not only price

The correct service depends on where the terminal operates, whether it moves, the importance of network priority, the equipment in use, and the consequences of an interruption. A stationary home, traveling RV, seasonal cabin, and payment-processing business should not automatically select the same service.

Residential service is built around a fixed home

Residential options generally fit a terminal used primarily at its registered service location. They are appropriate for ordinary household browsing, streaming, work, and connected devices when service is available. Customers should confirm the exact terms and any regional capacity limitations shown for their address.

Roam service prioritizes portability

Travel-oriented service is intended for compatible equipment used across changing locations, subject to current geographic, usage, and mobility rules. Portability can cost more or receive different network treatment than fixed service. In-motion use requires compatible hardware, mounting, operating location, and plan authorization; portability alone does not make every setup safe while moving.

Business-oriented service addresses operational needs

Business and priority offerings may provide different support, network priority, data treatment, hardware choices, or account controls. The value depends on the operation: payment systems, cloud applications, cameras, voice service, and backup connectivity may justify a more robust plan or terminal.

Equipment and service are separate choices

A Performance terminal does not automatically determine the account plan, and a service plan does not correct poor placement, weak Wi-Fi, or unsafe mounting. Compare terminal durability, field of view, power needs, mounting, and network design separately from monthly service.

Verify current names, prices, and terms

Starlink changes plan availability, pricing, data policies, and features. Use this framework to identify the right type of service, then rely on the current offer displayed for the exact address and account. Save a copy of the selected terms and review them before changing an active service line.

Confirm with the official source.

Check the instructions for your exact kit, accessory, and service plan before making a hardware or account decision.
