Coordinate before roofing starts

Tell the roofer where the mount and cable entry are, and agree who disconnects, removes, stores and reinstalls the equipment. Confirm who repairs old penetrations and approves the new attachment and flashing detail. Do not assume the roof crew will perform Starlink setup or networking tests.

Before removal

Photograph the mount, cable route, entry and equipment labels. Record working status and arrange temporary connectivity if the property needs service during the work. Power down and disconnect using the kit instructions; avoid pulling the terminal by its cable.

Store the terminal, supply and protected connectors away from falling debris and moisture. Label reusable components so they stay with the correct kit.

If this follows storm damage

Make the work area safe before retrieving equipment. Photograph damage where it is safe to do so and preserve records for the relevant provider or claim process. Do not reconnect damaged electrical equipment or reinstall on compromised structure merely to restore internet quickly.

Reinstallation checklist

• Confirm the new roof system permits the chosen mount and sealing method.
• Inspect reused supports, cable and connectors before fastening them again.
• Recheck sky view if the location or roof profile changed.
• Restore cable support and a serviceable, correctly sealed entry.
• Follow official alignment and verify connectivity in the required rooms.

Handover

Record who completed the roof work and who reinstalled Starlink. Keep photographs of the completed attachment and entry, plus any replaced parts. Review obstruction history after operation has resumed. If internet is restored but a roof detail is unfinished, record it as outstanding work rather than treating a speed test as proof the whole job is complete.
