Painting or Repairing a Home Exterior Around Starlink Equipment

Protect the dish, mount, cable, connectors, labels, entry seal, and service performance during exterior painting or repair.

Do not treat communications equipment as trim

Paint, pressure washing, scraping, sanding, masonry work, and ladders can damage a terminal, loosen cable clips, fill connectors, cover labels, or break the entry seal. Review all equipment with the contractor before preparation begins.

Decide what must be removed

Light work may only require careful masking and clearance, while siding repair, wall-mount areas, or cable-entry reconstruction may require professional disconnection and temporary removal. Do not unbolt a loaded mount or pull a connector without understanding how the system is supported.

Protect surfaces without trapping moisture or heat

Use temporary protection that does not press on the dish face, bend cable, block router ventilation, or remain installed after work. Never wrap powered outdoor equipment in plastic for an extended period. Keep solvents, coatings, and wash water away from connectors and power components.

Preserve cable movement and identification

Do not paint the cable rigidly to siding, seal clips under thick coating, or obscure equipment labels. Maintain a drip loop and suitable bend radius. If cable supports must be removed, replace them with compatible supports rather than nails or tight metal staples.

Restore the wall-entry system

Exterior repair may disturb sealant, flashing, mounting blocks, or penetrations. Rebuild the transition with materials compatible with the new surface and keep water directed away from the opening. Cosmetic caulk over a damaged pathway is not a durable repair.

Inspect and test after work

Check for movement, coating overspray, cable abrasion, loose supports, blocked drainage, and changed alignment. Power the system normally and verify app status, obstructions, and connected devices. Save final photographs for the property file.
